BAB Steering Hydraulics, Inc. is a remanufacturing company founded in Whittier, California in 1986 by Bill Carlson.  BAB relocated in 1993 to its present headquarters in Fontana California.

BAB Southeast Steering was started in 1995 with co-founder, John Ritcheson, of Atlanta, Georgia  to service distributors and their customers in the southeastern states. BAB Steering of Atlanta is managed by Kevin Ritcheson. To better serve our distributors BAB Steering and BAB Southeast Steering merged into BAB Steering Hydraulics, Inc. in December of 2000.

New master distributors and increased product demand in the Mid-West and on the East Coast has fueled our current expansion and brought about a new facility, (opened in July 98)  BAB Steering Hydraulics, of Youngstown, Ohio.  This facility is managed by Mike Miller.

Each BAB location and facility, has it's own quality remanufacturing capability allowing for individual customer re-man requests, faster stock order turn around time, reduced freight charges and expedited delivery schedules.  BAB locations boast over $1,000,000 in combined inventories available for immediate shipment.

The opening of our Ohio facility allows BAB to offer the industry an unprecedented industry standard of approximately 12 hours of daily person to person technical assistance availability.  It is true that other steering companies offer 24 hour technical assistance. However, what they don’t tell you is that you get the dreaded answering machine or voice mail and it may take up to 4 weeks before they get back to you.  BAB Steering strives to return each call within the same day.

Technical assistance is now available from 8:00 am EST to 7:30 pm EST by calling BAB's  "installers only" hotline @ 800.783.3748. Identification and order desk help is also available by calling 800.783.5222.

BAB specializes in remanufacturing all makes and models of power and manual steering components for the transportation industry, both on and off highway; from a half ton pick-up to class 8 vehicles including school buses and rural transit district buses, fire, construction and farm equipment.  If a vehicle has a steering gear or pump, BAB can  handle the request 99% of the time.  All units produced by BAB Steering Hydraulics meet or exceed industry specifications.  Each unit is completely disassembled and thoroughly inspected.  Unlike the current industry standards, BAB Steering Hydraulics replaces or re-machines any part that does not meet or exceed industry specifications. For this reason BAB considers itself a re-manufacturer, not a re-builder.

BAB is dedicated to establishing an unequaled industry standard through the proper education of supervisors, mechanics and everyone associated with the transportation industry.  BAB offers courses in steering hydraulics throughout the continental U.S. In California we also offer an accredited class in steering theory.   The correct maintenance and repair procedures of the steering and hydraulic system are important issues that need to be addressed in our industry today in order to maintain the safety and integrity of the steering system.  Educational classes are available through any of our over 150 distributors in 39 States, Puerto Rico and Canada.  Classes are often available in colleges or trade schools.

Service and training is provided to BAB distributors and their customers through factory and independent reps. BAB's National Sales Manager, Dick Henning, Boise, Idaho handles all new distributor set up and training.  Our Eastern Regional Sales Manager, John Ritcheson, Atlanta, GA handles our Southeast distributors and Tom Ketchum, Ketchum Sales covers California, Nevada and Arizona. The remaining western states are covered by Dave Pearson and Roy Sharp, Inland Pacific Sales.

The Midwest and East coast distributors are supported by Independent Reps: Larry & Tim Bice, Bice and Associates; Tim Myers, Rick Fiebig and Dave Alexander, TIMCO HD Sales; Charlie Strumon, CPS Sales; Tom Ketchum, Ketchum Sales; John Gruver and Vance Fellows, Southern Sales and Marketing and Kevin Gerrity, Gerrity and Associates.

BAB  markets and distributes it’s product exclusively through stocking warehouse distributors. The combined inventory of related components and the superior service capabilities of these qualified Heavy Duty aftermarket parts distributors provide BAB customers with the quality products and services they have come to expect.

BAB attributes it's growth and success to dedicated personnel, commitment to quality through education, and a trusting relationship with each of their quality Heavy Duty aftermarket parts distributors.

For the number of a distributor in your area call 800.783.5222.  If you would like information on becoming a distributor, call 888-575-3769.  Please keep in mind, however, that BAB will not set up more distributors than an area can support.
